My wedding rings are gone. No, they weren't insured. We had them insured at the beginning, but over the years quit paying for the individual policy. We were just informed, after contacting our insurance company upon the loss, that we could have had my rings covered for just $10 more a month as part of our homeowners policy. Thanks for telling us now.
So, I'm 90% sure that they were stolen by the people who clean our house. I didn't want to believe it, but after turning our house inside out and upside down, they are nowhere to be found. We've looked EVERYWHERE. I've tried to call the people who clean, but both their phones are turned off. I've been missing my rings since Tuesday and I'm heartsick over it.
The other alternative is that I lost them, misplaced them on my own. I haven't done this in 5 years, so I just highly doubt it.
And ANOTHER alternative is that I left them on a counter at a jewelry shop. When Braelyn was sick the weekend of the 13th, we took her to the mall just to get her out of the house. We strolled around, went in a few stores, and had lunch at Dave & Busters. She was getting cabin fever and the mall did her good. I went to Gordon's while we were there and tried on diamond rings for fun. So, maybe I left my ring on the counter at Gordon's. They don't have it and told us they would even review the security tapes in the time range we were there to see if a customer or employee swiped them. The thing is, I often try on rings at the mall. Its fun to put big rocks on my fingers and have the light reflect off my hand. I never leave without my rings. I know there is a first time for everything, but I just doubt this.
We're going to file a police report this week. All pawn shops are required by the state to upload their pawned items to a database for the police to match with stolen property reports. There is a 20-60 day delay before pawn shops are even allowed to put the stock on their shelves, so that the police have time to review the inventory and scan for matches. Doing this report doesn't mean I'm automatically accusing our cleaners of stealing, but it at least puts my property in a report to be scanned with pawn shop inventory. I'm also checking Craigs List and Ebay daily.
To be honest, I'll even buy my rings back if I have to. I'm serious. Its the sentiment of it. Even had my rings been insured and I could go out and spend $7,000 this very minute, its not the same ring Jay proposed with.
So, I'm sad and sick over it, but I really can't do much about it. I have to remember it is only a symbol of our love, and that having a wonderful marriage and a blessed life is much more to hold onto than a diamond ring. But, still.......:)
In the meantime, Jay's mom lended me one of her monster rock's to wear so I don't have to go ringless. And this is a ring she wears on a daily basis. Jay's mom is so thoughtful.
So, pray I find my rings somehow. I'm hoping that I'm wrong, that the 10% chance I lost them will be the case. We've done everything but tear down the walls looking for them, though.

bless your heart. I sent up a prayer to St. Anthony so that you may find 'em. (patron saint for lost articles)
have you had your cleaning people for a long time?? man, this scares me. We are thinking of hiring a cleaning person, but now I don't want to just for that very reason!
sidenote: I LOVE that you go shopping to try on fun rings. How awesome is that?
oh and the 2nd sidenote: my sister lost her ring before. My niece had "borrowed" it and put it in one of her dress up boxes. It was lost for nearly a week! She thought it had fallen down the garbage disposal and that was the cause of the disposal to not work.
I sure hope you find them. By the way, my current wedding ring is completely different than the one I had when we got married. After 8 years of marriage I received an upgrade. I kept my originals though. I would be crushed if I lost them.
If it makes you feel better, my mom lost her wedding rings and found them 2 years later. She found them in a pair of shoes...random, I know. I'll pray that you find them or have peace about this. Jason got me a diamond necklace when we were dating and I lost it right before we got married. I still haven't been able to tell him about it. It still breaks my heart.
That's terrible! Maybe they'll pop up in a place you least expect this week...I sure hope so. I hate losing things....especially things with such sentimental value! I really hope you find them, however it happened.
oh, julie, i'm so sorry. i can imagine that sick feeling you have - it's so hard not want that physical symbol that is so sentimental to us. i would be the same way. but you are so right about how blessed you are in your relationship!! i'll be praying for peace also!!
i do hope you find them! keep us posted
